Colin recently graduated from college and has begun his professional career as a nurse. Mental health is an important aspect to his life. 

What gives you hope about mental health in the future?
"The ways in which the world is becoming more open to discussing mental health gives me hope, and that is critical to breaking down the surrounding stigma. This transparency brings light to the issues around unequal access to mental health services with underserved populations and across all ages and backgrounds. This is crucial in assuring health equity across the world. I am hopeful that policies will adapt to current mental health needs and that access to services change in the next few years."

What is the inspiration behind your tee design?
"When we talk about stigma, many people focus on the more negative side of mental health, but it is a spectrum. There are highs and lows, and everything in between. That is what I hope my design emulates.

As a nurse, we can use the Wong-Baker FACES scale to help us understand a patient’s interpretation of their pain. I wanted to use that concept to show the range of emotions we have throughout our day, week, or month. It’s a simple design to tie in mental health with what I do as a nurse."
